We Built a $50K Shopify Storefront in Two Sessions. Here's What NYC Studios Don't Want You to Know.

We Built a $50K Shopify Storefront in Two Session

A functional beverage brand came to us pre-launch. Three SKUs. Brand guidelines locked. Product ready to ship. They needed a full custom Shopify storefront - not a theme tweak, not a template install - a ground-up build that matched the quality of the brands they were competing against.

The kind of project that gets quoted at $30K to $50K in Manhattan. The kind that takes 6 to 10 weeks once you survive the discovery phase, the stakeholder alignment calls, and the three rounds of design comps before a single line of code gets written.

We delivered the entire site in two working sessions.

The Scope

This wasn't a homepage and a prayer. The full build included:

Custom PDP - a fully coded product detail page with variant selection logic, add-to-cart functionality, cart drawer integration, ingredient accordions, mood-based gradient badges per SKU, and tooltip micro-interactions. Responsive across every breakpoint.

Header & Navigation - a sticky, scroll-aware header with transparent-to-solid logic on the homepage, mega menu support, mobile responsiveness, and z-index coordination with the announcement bar. The kind of nav that silently does its job without breaking on edge cases.

Animated Announcement Bar - gradient animation across the brand palette, sticky positioning, and tight integration with the header's scroll behavior.

Full Branded Footer - newsletter signup, social links, navigation columns, brand messaging block, and background imagery. Not a default Shopify footer with a logo swap.

Learn Page - a full educational landing page with a hero section, brand story, ingredient breakdown with a how-it-works visual system, competitive comparison, FAQ section, trust indicators, and product lineup cards linking back to the PDPs.

Every section was built as production-ready Shopify Liquid - not wireframes, not Figma files, not "here's a PDF, good luck." Actual code their dev could drop into the theme and ship.

What That Costs in NYC

We priced this out against what a mid-to-top-tier New York Shopify studio would charge for the identical scope:

PDP: $10K to $18K Header + Nav: $6K to $12K Announcement Bar: $1.5K to $3K Footer: $3K to $5K Learn Page: $8K to $15K

Total: $28K to $53K. And that's before the PM overhead, the revision rounds that get billed hourly, and the timeline that stretches into two months because three people need to approve a button color.

Studios like these are incredible at what they do. But the model is built for enterprise clients with enterprise budgets and enterprise patience. If you're a brand launching in 90 days with a lean team and real momentum, that timeline kills you.

How We Work

Liquid Lemon pairs a senior-level designer and developer with AI-powered development tools to deliver studio-quality Shopify builds in 30-day fixed-price sprints.

That's not a gimmick - it's a fundamentally different workflow. A senior creative eye makes every design decision. Brand direction, UX logic, visual hierarchy, the details that separate a real storefront from a template with a fresh coat of paint - that's human judgment, and it's non-negotiable. AI handles the heavy lifting on the development side: generating production-ready Liquid code, iterating at speed, and eliminating the weeks of back-and-forth that traditional studios burn through.

The result is a process that moves at startup speed with agency-level output. You get a locked scope, a hard deadline, and a dedicated build partner who's in the trenches with you - not a PM relaying messages between a design team and a dev team in two different time zones.

No discovery phase that costs $5K before anyone opens a code editor. No hourly billing that punishes you for having opinions. No six-week timeline for five sections.

For this beverage brand, that meant going from brief to fully coded storefront in two working sessions. Production-ready Shopify Liquid - not wireframes, not Figma files. Their dev dropped the sections into the theme and the site shipped.

The Takeaway

The agency model isn't broken - it's just overbuilt for most brands. If you're a DTC company with a clear brand, a product ready to move, and a team that makes decisions fast, you don't need a 10-person studio. You need one sharp build partner who writes production code and moves at your speed.

That's what we do.
