Shopify Migration

Shopify migration services
for DTC brands.

A Shopify migration moves your DTC store from Magento, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, or Volusion to Shopify or Shopify Plus, including your products, customers, order history, content, and URLs. Liquid Lemon handles the migration, SEO, redirects, integrations, and a custom storefront rebuild in one fixed-scope project, so the migration is structured to preserve as much organic visibility as possible through the move.

Then we rebuild
the storefront.

A migration is a good time to fix the storefront problems you have been carrying from your old platform. Every Liquid Lemon storefront is custom-coded from scratch. No off-the-shelf theme. No page-builder patchwork. We rebuild the customer-facing experience around your brand, catalog, mobile shoppers, and conversion goals while the migration work happens underneath.

High-traffic stores
SEO and URL preservation matter because your organic traffic is a real revenue channel.
Brands ready for a rebuild
Migration and storefront redesign happen together, in one fixed-scope project.
Why migrate

Why brands move to Shopify.

If you already know you have a migration problem, here is the business case for the platform itself, not just a feature list, to help justify the move internally.

Simplify the stack
A hosted, managed platform means less infrastructure, security, and maintenance to own.
Merchandising agility
Ship storefront and campaign changes faster, without waiting on engineering.
Less technical overhead
Fewer servers, plugins, and custom patches to keep alive as you grow.
Consolidate operations
Bring catalog, content, checkout, and sales channels into one system.
Room to scale
Grow into Shopify Plus, B2B, and international selling when you need it.
How it works

How a Shopify migration actually works.

A Shopify migration is a sequenced project, not a one-click import. Here is how Liquid Lemon moves a store to Shopify or Shopify Plus while protecting your data, SEO, and customer experience.

01
Audit & scope
We review your current store, catalog, integrations, content, and URL structure, then quote a fixed migration scope.
02
Data migration
Products, variants, collections, customers, and order history move to Shopify with validation at every step.
03
SEO & redirects
We map every URL, build a full 301 redirect plan, and carry over metadata, canonicals, and schema.
04
Storefront rebuild
Your custom, mobile-first storefront is built from scratch, with no theme and no page-builder patchwork.
05
QA & go-live
Staged QA, a launch-blocker checklist, a watched DNS cutover, and rankings monitored after launch.
What breaks SEO in a migration
  • Changed URLs with no redirects
  • Removed pages & content
  • Broken 301 redirect chains
  • Lost title tags & metadata
  • Missing canonical tags
  • Deleted schema markup
  • Unverified analytics & pixels
Platforms we migrate

Shopify migration from every platform.

We migrate DTC stores to Shopify and Shopify Plus from Magento, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, and Volusion, with your data, SEO, and 301 redirects kept intact.

The migration sprint.

Migration, SEO, and storefront. One project.

We combine the migration and rebuild into one fixed-scope engagement, so you are not coordinating a developer for the platform move and another agency for the new storefront.

FAQ

Everything you need to know.

How long does a Shopify migration take?
Most qualifying migrations can be completed through our 30-day sprint. The exact timeline depends on your catalog size, integrations, content, redirect volume, and technical requirements. We scope the migration before work begins.
Will I lose my Google rankings when I migrate to Shopify?
A well-planned migration is built to protect your rankings, but Google notes that some temporary fluctuation is normal while a moved site is recrawled and reindexed. Lasting drops come from preventable errors: URLs changed without redirects, removed content, or lost SEO signals like titles, metadata, and schema. We map your existing URL structure, build a complete 301 redirect plan, preserve your metadata and schema, and monitor rankings through launch to protect the organic visibility you have earned.
Do 301 redirects hurt SEO during a Shopify migration?
No. Google states that permanent (301) redirects do not inherently cause PageRank loss. The risk comes from poor URL mapping, redirect chains, missing pages, content changes, and migration errors, not from using a proper permanent redirect itself.
How do you migrate to Shopify without losing SEO?
We treat SEO as part of the migration, not an afterthought. Before launch we map every existing URL to its Shopify equivalent, build a full 301 redirect map, carry over title tags, meta descriptions, headings, alt text, and structured data, set canonical tags correctly, and rebuild your schema markup. After go-live we monitor redirects and rankings so nothing slips. For the full process, see our guide to Shopify migration SEO.
What data can you migrate to Shopify?
We can migrate products, variants, collections, customers, order history, content, images, and other approved store data. The exact migration scope depends on your current platform and data structure. Our Shopify migration checklist covers everything to move and verify.
What happens to customer accounts and passwords when I migrate?
Customer records and saved addresses migrate, but customer passwords generally can't be migrated into Shopify because they're encrypted on the source platform. Shopify's current customer accounts use passwordless sign-in by default, so customers sign in with a one-time email code.
What platforms can you migrate to Shopify from?
We migrate stores to Shopify and Shopify Plus from Magento (Adobe Commerce), BigCommerce, WooCommerce and WordPress, Volusion, and other major ecommerce platforms. If you are on a less common or custom platform, we can scope a migration around your data and setup.
Will my Shopify migration cause downtime?
Your existing store stays live while we build and test the new Shopify store on a separate environment. We only switch DNS once everything is migrated, QA'd, and redirects are in place, so the storefront keeps serving customers through migration and launch.
How much does a Shopify migration cost?
There is no single migration price because the scope depends on your catalog, integrations, content, URL structure, and technical requirements. We quote the migration upfront so you know the cost before work begins. Most migrations are priced as a fixed project after the audit rather than billed hourly. See what actually drives the price in our guide to Shopify migration cost.
Can you migrate to Shopify without redesigning the store?
Yes, but Liquid Lemon usually combines migration with a storefront rebuild because carrying the old UX into a new platform preserves the same customer-facing problems. For brands that need migration-only scope, that can be evaluated during the audit.
Do you migrate to Shopify Plus?
Yes. We work with both Shopify and Shopify Plus. Shopify Plus migrations are scoped around your catalog, integrations, markets, and technical requirements.
